July/August 2007

MAN IS IT HOT OUT, it’s only 98 degree’s and the humidity sucks. So far we have done more with the city of Chicago than in past years, not withstanding the new parking procedures and pay & display. Next we are taking on the GIANT city medallion they call a Motorcycle City Sticker. This is about 4 ½ inches in diameter and sometimes cover most of your license plate, and there is a law regarding obstructing your plate. I only hope we can work as closely with the City Clerks office as we did with the Department of Revenue, you know Matt Darst & Ed Walsh…Those guy’s were fantastic, the Mayor should really be proud of them.

Next we went to the State Party and had a great time, we had 18 to 20 members from the chapter there and all but 2 Officers. We really need to thank 2 individuals in particular, Andy Lago & Doc Bob. Andy got us a great deal on a truck to haul all of the chapters gear down and Doc Bob drove it down. Olga and I were surprised when we rode in a little road weary to see that ALL the tents were set up and the camp site was all set up. THANKS GUY’S, then our newest board member (Safety & Education) Road Dog for cooking as usual and NOBODY DIED. The State were great hosts and it was good to see that some things never change. Races, Bands, some real hotties  and even the girls had a little show for themselves. I personally gave out over 300 sets of beads :’) and most were well deserved.

If you ever think you just had the worst cup of coffee in your life, you should have been there for the first cup on Saturday. I don’t know about everyone else but mine tasted like diesel fuel. A good time was had by all, on the way back we all left together and stopped a few times. Me, Andy, Olga & Dan Harper stopped by the Knights Templar Home in Paxton for a tour of the facility. What a great thing they have there, if you need any info about it please ask one of us. The TV show is over until the last quarter of the year and hopefully they will have a spot open for us. Peter Robledo "R.I.P"
Chicago ABATE and H.O.G. Member

Just checked and Pete Robledo was a member of the Chicago Chapter and was due to expire 08/07, the Chicago Chapter and it's Officers & Members would like to extend our heartfelt sadness to his family and friends at this time of sorrow.  I did not know him personally but I am sure we met and talked at some time during his 13 years as being an A.B.A.T.E. member. Pete joined in 06/94 and was never late or in arrears of his dues in the organization and that probably say's a lot about his character. He will be missed and we will hold a moment of silence at the August membership meeting. If anyone would like to join us for this you can find all the meeting time and info on the web site
