******CHILI PARTY FEBRUARY
9TH 2008 PARK RIDGE
VFW!!!!!!
Tickets are

Auto!!
To the
members and Officers of the
Chicago Chapter, by the time you
read this Christmas, New Years
and the Chapter Elections will
be over. I hope everyone had a
good & safe Holiday, however it
was celebrated. As you read this
we are probably down at the
state seminar and hitting the
class’s and renewing old
friendships and making new
friends. This past year was full
of changes in the way the City
of Chicago looked at the
motorcycle rider and his bike,
bike being defined as a “street
legal motor driven cycle”. The
City acknowledged our bikes as a
viable means of transportation
in a time of soaring oil prices.
They also fixed a problem that
probably cost them a few dollars
thru the years in the form of
the Cities motorcycle vehicle
sticker (The Chicago Medallion)
By June the new one should be in
place and the need to widen the
screw holes and find an out of
the way place to put it will be
a thing of the past. The new tag
will be about 1/3 the size of
the original and the hole (1)
hole instead of 5 was researched
and the right diameter now
exists. The new brochure was
introduced as to the proper way
to park your motorcycle or
scooter in the city, along with
the new pay & display system
that is Motorcycle friendly was
implemented and we “The Chicago
Chapter” were given proper
recognition on the back page of
it. WE would like to take time
to thank the Mayor, Matt Darst,
Jay Rowell, and the rest of the
Mayors Staff that took the time
to work with us and understand
what we were looking for. Matt
Darst was an OUTSTANDING
individual when it came to
understanding our needs an
sending us in the right
direction. The Mayor can be VERY
proud of all his hard work, if
he worked this hard for
us……Imagine what he does for the
the people doing business with
the city of Chicago. I went in
to see Jay Rowell and was not
anticipating what happened with
him and his staff, I brought one
of the old medallions and a few
of the surrounding towns as
samples. We had what was to be
the first of 2 meetings, the 2nd
meeting blew us away. By the
next meeting Jay had an actual
sample of the new one, once
again Mr. Mayor….You got to keep
these employee’s and give all of
the above mentioned a raise or
at the very least some kind of
recognition for all their hard
work. We made some changes in
the chapter also, we added Road
Dog to the mix as the Safety &
Ed person and what an addition
he was. Not only can he cook but
he can teach as well, his
teaching skills are great and no
one ever died from his cooking
“that we know of”. So far to
date we have done about 2000
students and he’s got a crapload
set up for us this year, now if
we can only paper train him he’d
be great. “WOOF WOOF’ gotcha
dog. I would like to also thank
the members of the board for all
their hard work thru the year,
they really go above and beyond
the call for us. THANKS GUY’S &
GAL’S. Getting ready for the
riding season so gotta go.
